Asking for a re-mark

You have 72 hours after your results are released to ask for a re-mark. After that, OET will not accept the request. A re-mark may take 3 to 6 weeks. OET re-marking policy.

A re-mark can raise your score, lower it or leave it the same. Once published, the new result replaces your original and you cannot undo it. If you change your mind before the outcome is published, you can ask OET not to publish it. The re-mark still goes ahead and the fee is not refunded.

Action Cost and conditions
Request a re-mark AUD 120 per sub-test (USA: USD 95); refunded if your grade changes
Book another test while waiting OET does not refund the new test, even if the re-mark raises your grade
Appeal a finished re-mark Reviews the process only; AUD 120 per stage (USA: USD 95)

To ask for a re-mark of OET on Paper, use Request Re-marking in myOET. For OET on Computer or OET@Home, follow the link in your results email. You must submit and pay yourself: OET does not assess unpaid requests or requests from relatives, friends or colleagues. If you chose the wrong sub-test, contact OET within 72 hours of submitting. Once re-marking starts, you cannot cancel it or get the fee back.

When the re-mark is done, OET updates your account. The revised statement is available on myOET within 24 hours.

A re-mark does not come with comments on your strengths, errors or how to improve. OET re-marking policy.

Delayed results and appeals

Public holidays, regional factors and extra quality or security checks can delay results. OET can also withhold results because of rescheduling, malpractice, ID problems or technical issues. If OET asks you to respond, do so by its deadline, or your results may be withheld permanently. OET results notification and timing; OET test regulations.

An appeal checks the process, for example whether assessors were independent and used the marking criteria. It does not usually re-assess your performance, but a process error can lead to a new re-mark. You can only appeal once the re-mark is finished, and you must appeal within 5 calendar days of receiving the decision. OET aims to reply within 8 weeks for Stage 1 and 6 weeks for Stage 2, counted from when you submit. OET appeal policy.
